KBRU at Burning Man 2025

We tested out some equipment this year ahead of our formal launch of KBRU-FM in 2026. The photo above shows the solar array trailer complete with FM antenna. The solar array worked reasonably well to power the needs of the camp and the station, although cloudy weather impacted the preformance requiring down time in the evenings. Each day at noon, we broadcast “High Noon with Neal Cobb,” a program from the Nervada Historical Society and Washoe County Library, featuring a talk by Jim Bonar about the history of the Black Rock Desert. The rest of the time we broadcast curated music progrsamming from Metric’s personal archive of music collected overt years living in the Black Rock region. There were many useful lessons learned from this effort, and we look forward to a more devceloped progamming regimen when we launch next year.
