4th of July Campout & General Meeting

We take stewardship seriously.

4th of July Campout & General Meeting

We are planning to camp on the Black Rock Desert over the 4th of July weekend, and we invite you to join us or come visit.

General Meeting, 5 – 7 pm, Saturday, July 4, 2026

Current Stewards members may vote (should the occasion arise) at our General Meeting. No voting issues are expected to arise. We will hold our regular board meeting, provide an update on activities, and listen to input from members and other participants. After the conclusion of the meeting, stick around for hot dogs and burgers! Bring something for the grill, casserole, chips, or what have you.

We will camp just off the road that leads from 3-mile to Coyote Dunes and the Trego Railroad Crossing, between the 3-mile entrance and 8-mile entrance. At the 3-mile desert entrance, drive 2.5 miles al9ng the rightmost road, then turn right and drive .1 miles to camp. Anyone who would like to join us must be self-sufficient and be prepared to camp following the Leave No Trace ethic.

Other Activities

We will be set-up out on the desert by Friday night, hanging out and entertaining ourselves. We are planning a simple volunteer project at Guru Road on the morning of Saturday, July 4, around 8 am. We will likely walk the road and paint some lettering on specific rocks.

Then, we will probably take a little toodle on Sunday to visit place of interest in the Black Rock Desert. We will decide where we want to go on that morning– maybe hot springs, maybe mini playas. People with a suitable vehicle are welcome to join us at your own risk. Of course, it is always best to travel in groups so that we can support one another in the event of unforseen difficulties.
